I'm Mexican and visited family in the Cancun area. I told my family about a health concern I had which i had checked out in the US. It took two months for me to be checked out and i felt rushed out and not heard. So my family called a doctor, they got me an appointment for a Saturday morning and on that morning not only did i see the doctor, but had ultrasounds, tests, and a biopsy which i didn't have in the US. I then went back upstairs to see the doctor again and paid around $350 US for everything. Everyone was nice and really heard what i was saying. I had to head back to the US two days later so the doctor then kept in touch with me through Whatsapp to address my concerns and they emailed me my biopsy results that had been sent out to the lab. I finally had answers. The doctor even asked me what i thought about Canada since i lived many years in Canada because he had been offered opportunities there. I told him DON'T DO IT. If he's living comfortably in Mexico then stay in Mexico.

I loved living in the local neighborhood when I was in Merida. I never saw any expats which was nice. I think expats should spread out instead of flocking to Centro lol.

I purchased a used condo in Playa because its what I could afford and made changes along the way.

How can anyone say they moved to Mexico when they don’t have either Temporary or Permanent Residency? Those who don’t get a temporary Visa that’s good for 180 days. Thereafter they have to go back to start the process over again and there’s no guarantee that they would be granted the full 180 days each time. I understand times are hard especially for a single Mom with 3 children but to move to another country with only enough to sustain them for a couple of months is not something I would do, especially if your unemployed.

What do schools do with the kids when it's that hot? Is it like back east when they have "snow days?"

It's interesting how she said that if you're an Introvert then it may be ok for you to live there, meanwhile, I was watching some Mexican RUclipsrs who were pointing out how in those "nicer neighborhoods" everyone is boxed in and keeps to themselves not even knowing who their neighbors are. Meanwhile in the very authentic Mexican neighborhoods, you know everyone up and down your block and the next. Where you have a sense of community.

I spent a couple weeks in Merida 20 years ago or so ago and before Merida I spent 3months in Valladolid. The price of everything was very inflated in Merida back than so I can imagine where it’s gone to today. Staying in San Felipe was so good back than and so far out of the way renting a basic flat and sleeping in hammock was almost $100month. There are still the cheap places to rent but just get a little outside of the main areas.
